March 2nd, 2025

I woke late today, the light filtered in through the kitchen windows and speared through my partially open bedroom door, shining directly into my eyes.
I stumbled down the hall to the bathroom and saw more white flakes whipping past the window. The sky is the bluest blue again and there seem to be only a few clouds.
Despite the brightness of the day and the limited cloud cover I can’t see the sun in the sky.
Some of the weirdest weather I have ever experienced in my life and locals all act like it’s very normal – maybe it is. I’ve really only ever seen winter from a city perspective where plows and salters take care of the worst of it.
There must be twelve feet in the meadow and the boughs of the conifers in the woods bend under the weight.
I made coffee and settled at my kitchen table to eat some toast when a splash of red in the trees caught my eyes.
I went to the window and looked out to the treeline, but there was nothing there. There’s never anything there.
Just the snow and the wind.
