I never managed to get back to sleep after the mirror dream two nights ago, but I did take a very long, very hot shower and packed a bag for the city.
I drifted into a dreamless few hours of sleep early this morning expecting to wake up and hit the road for the city this morning and instead I woke to a full white out…
The driveway filled so rapidly with snow I wouldn’t be able to make it to the truck, let alone get to the road to leave this place.
I know it probably doesn’t mean anything specific – Spring storms happen – but, this just feels like the Northern Woods won’t let me go.
I took the cushions off the couch and pulled out some blankets. I made a nest in the bay window at the front of the house and laid down in the built-in seat.
I watched the snow fall for hours and was amazed to see small red birds flitting through the trees in the woods.
Their bright contrast with the dark trees and the falling snow was beautiful – like, tiny jewels.
I thought I had never seen anything so captivating – how could they manoeuvre so well in such dense snow.
If I could see so many gorgeous things here in the Northern Wood maybe i wouldn’t be so keen to leave.
The minute the thought occurred to me the snow stopped and the birds all perched on branches and seemed to watch me from a distance.
