I had a dream last night that Skobeth climbed a tree – the tallest tree in the forest. She climbed and I came with her as a disembodied pair of eyes – higher and higher until we could not see the ground and the branches became impossibly thin.
The wind whipped through the boughs and Skobeth clung to the leaves and sticks to avoid being blown out of the great heights.
Suddenly a thin, multi-legged woman dropped from above on a length of silk – a spider woman…
She wrapped Skobeth up in her arms and spun silk around her small body so fast that the little kitten didn’t even have time to cry out.
The cocoon of my cat was placed gently in the fork made by two branches and the spider woman left.
I woke up with my little kitten shivering in my armpit and when I cuddled her close she hissed at something unseen in the corner of the room.
I later found several cobwebs there that I would swear didn’t exist the day before.
