How do I explain how unsettled I am by the sisters, Tana and Kat?
These two women move through the town smiling and offering kind words to everyone they meet, but the townsfolk mostly ignore the girls, sometimes even crossing to the other side of the road to get away from them.
It’s not unusual for me to find them lounging on the hood of my truck when I come out of the store or the post office.
Their heads tilted towards each other, whispering in hushed tones and glancing at me as I approach.
They never say anything unkind to me and even often seem very disinterested in me… but they are always there – the very presence of them permeating my day and souring the best of my moods.
I definitely saw Tana out by the fence talking with Barbie a few days ago and Barbie was very obviously not happy with what Tana was sharing.
Sometimes the two women look very much alike – like, Barbie’s hair is a dusty golden grey… what I imagine Tana’s hair will look a lot like when she is older.
What could anyone say to Barbie that would make her angry.
She doesn’t necessarily seem happy, but she does seem secure enough to not let the sister get under her skin.
